The 38th Annual Muse Awards

New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT) held its 38th Annual Muse Awards holiday luncheon, which celebrates the vision and achievements of inspiring women working in the entertainment industry.  It was held at the Hilton Midtown’s Grand Ballroom on Thursday, December 14th.

Lt. Govenor Kathy Hochul receives standing ovation

One of the highlights of the event was New York State Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul, who received a standing ovation during her speech…”This is the year we say it’s over! We will no longer be subjected to assault and innuendos and degradation because of our gender.  It’s over! It’s over!”

Commissioner Julie Menin & Alysia Reiner with Made in NY Award

Another highlight was the NYC Mayor’s Office Commissioner, Julie Menin who presented Alysia Reiner with the Made in NY award celebrating Reiner’s significant contributions to New York City’s entertainment industry.  

Alysia is best known for her current role as Warden Natalie Figueroa or Fig, on Orange Is The New Black on Netflix.

This year’s honorees included:

Laura Dern, Actor, Amy Emmerich, Chief Content Officer, Refinery29, Judith Light, Actor, Julie Dash, Director (The Nancy Malone Directing Award), Regina K. Scully, Filmmaker and CEO, Artemis Rising Foundation (Loreen Arbus Changemaker Award), Alysia Reiner, Actor and Producer (Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment “Made in New York” Award). Actor and CBS commentator Nancy Giles emceed.
